Toddlers Do Opera

January 7, 2015 by Jen 4 Comments

I don’t know if it is because air is easier to avoid in my house than music and acting, or whether all children do this, but my little girls sing about 50% of what they say.

All of my kids have done this, and it usually slows down by age six. One of the wonderful things about having three kids within 16 months is that they collaborate on impromptu performances.

Here’s a little snippet I recorded over Christmas vacation.

It’s a not-so-standard issue love triangle featuring the opera stylings of Juliette and Celia with some excellent sword slinging a la Alice.

Enjoy!

Do the clowns in your circus do this too? Please, do tell!

Awesome. Mine don’t sing nearly as much – though they both boogie down to any music that’s playing. Sophia is starting to play with the ukulele Shane bought her two years ago, and Ellison periodically belts out “Let it ago” at top volume… Hoping to see more duets in the future 🙂 thanks for sharing your little opera troupe

Sebastian and I sing some words, but meow more. I love the sword fight!

Welcome to the Freakshow

The Bearded Lady

Hi there!

Hi! I'm Jen. See that manic gleam in my eye? That's me wondering when the real mom is gonna show up. I'm beginning to worry, yo.

The Strong Man

The Strong Man

Super dad. Arts education visionary. All round soul-mate extraordinaire.

Clown #1

Daughter 1

Our starter child, Zoe. Poor thing, she's born the brunt of our learning curve and is incredible despite us. That girl loves a stage.

Clown #2

son

The only son, bless him. Grey is what happens if you put Robin Williams and Stephen Hawking in a blender. Except WAY cuter.

Clown #3

four year old

The firecracker. This one, Juliette, is going to be President or on the FBI's most wanted.

Clown #4 and Clown #5

identical twins

Alice and Celia. Or is it Celia and Alice? It's so hard to tell. But seriously, these guys are our blessings in surprise.
